“You don’t have to worry about it,” Thor explained. “If he starts getting green around the ears, just keep saying “the sun’s getting real low” over and over; it calms him down.” Banner overheard the instruction and sighed. He locked the door and sat down carefully on the meditation cushion. “I’ve got to keep in mind that – on a good day, outside of some basic problem solving, they’ve got about 11 brain cells to share between them. I cannot expect them to understand.” He closed his eyes. “The sun’s getting real low,” he whispered, “and who you are, at the end of the day, can be left behind along the road you’re traveling like a skin shed from a passing snake. You are moving through this place. You are moving through this time. You are moving through this form and all of its challenges, finding the thread of serenity in your last shred of self-worth, using the kindness you are shown and the love that you receive as your guide and just reward. Give with no thought of taking; live with no fear of dying. The light is within and it will never go out.” Banner stayed with his breath for another ten minutes or so and then opened his eyes. “I’m never going to teach them the rest,” he said to himself, “and I’m never going to tell them that I wrote it. I’ll just … take what comes, because it seems to work.”
