Business

Business

Wally (driving the Waffle Wagon) saw that Chuck (in his Chili Truck) had pulled off of the main road and into the parking lot of the Walmart; he quickly slowed and turned, maneuvering to be alongside. "Business?" Wally asked warmly, his open driver window contributing an immediate pastry caramel smell to the air around both rigs. "Bupkiss," Chuck replied glumly, all onions and pickled jalapenos. "People are fickle! Maybe we head over to Huntington Beach?" Wally offered, and then looked up as a rumble started almost a block away. A spotless RV with one side panel turned into a peekaboo double glass wall, rolled slowly by. The obviously-Class-A was retro in style and been converted into a travel cafe with small tables and stuffed chairs, low-light chandeliers, and secure fitted bookshelves. The side proudly proclaimed, "Barb's Books and Brownies (and, maybe, a Little Booze)". Inside, three or four people sat reading with their feet up, a fortified coffee at the ready next to a big square of something amazing; Wally guessed that it was peaceful as all get out in there. "Or maybe we could skip Huntington Beach and everywhere else," Chuck hissed, "and just give up." But Wally was more optimistic, Googling his brains out at that moment, seeing a distribution channel for his raspberry chocolate dipped waffles and the perfect birthday gift for his partner at the same time.
