Sleep

Sleep

He began to sleep more and more, moving quickly from 5 hours to a minimum of 8 or 9. He frequently asked his partner if this was odd - if he should go to the doctor, but it was pointed out to him repeatedly that his job was very stressful and it would take years to catch up on much-needed and well-deserved rest. This went on for some time before the 8 hours started to creep towards 10 and he wondered if he was being drugged; the wonderment started as something humorous, but moved steadily towards a suspicion. When, at last, there came a calling out, he was surprised when so many gathered at his house to show their videos. While sleepwalking, he'd joked and laughed, gladly pitched in, saved the day, and told them he loved them. "I'm not proud of what we've done," his partner said, "but you're simply ... a better person when you're asleep. We wanted more of that guy." And he could not deny that his sleeping self was a better person entirely and vowed to use the footage to make adjustments in his waking life ... as they weaned him off whatever they'd put in his food and drink, of course.
