Change

Marilyn ordered herbal tea instead of coffee and breathed deeply, sitting down with the others. Her conversation was thoughtful and measured; she listened and kept her mouth shut against the temptation to dispense unsolicited advice. "You're quiet today," one of her friends observed, and Marilyn nodded. "I'm practicing a bit of mindfulness today - slowing my roll; I feel a change coming." "More patient? More aware?" someone asked (and she nodded slowly). "In a way," she responded. "More than anything, I'm pretty sure I'm going to snap like a dry twig this week and let the darkness take over." A couple of them gasped, but Beverly smiled broadly; this had been a long time coming and it was going to be epic.
