Room

Room

"What's this?" he asked, pointing to one of the rooms. She had colored some of the pink miniatures black with a Sharpie, rubbed dirt into the tiny carpet, and torn the wallpaper into strips. "You don't want any of this stuff, Honey?" "Oh, no, I do!" she exclaimed brightly. "I just needed a room for ghosts and monsters. EVERY house has a room for ghosts and monsters, Daddy." And the little cubby seemed darker the more he looked at it, in stark contrast to the rose gold and velvet floweriness of the other rooms in the dollhouse; he shuddered, but didn't want to upset her. "Are you sure, though? Are you sure that every house has a ghost room?" She giggled, looking over his shoulder and nodding. "Yes, Daddy," came his reply. "We all agree."
