Pockets

Pockets

"Yes, that's right," she said delicately. "A conspiracy of pockets." "On the side seams of your evening gown?" the tailor repeated, dumbfounded. "Yes and no," she began (readying to explain again). "The overdress - the velvet gown - should have pockets on each side cleverly disguised. On the right side, the pocket should have a false bottom that allows my dominant hand to reach through and access an open panel pocket sewn to either the underdress or mounted on the crinoline framework. This is the sword pocket and it should be installed to rest on the outside of the right leg." "Sword pocket," the tailor mouthed, and she sighed once again. The seamstress behind him waved and nodded, quickly flashing her schematic of the request; it was perfect in every way. "Uh ... well ... do you have it, Dolores, or do we need to make this dear lady repeat it all again?!?" the tailor whipped around, attempting to stick his incompetence onto a person he perceived as less. Dolores bowed. "I have it; thank you for your patience, Madam." The design was in good hands and her ladyship tipped Dolores handsomely when measurements were taken; it was clear that she understood the importance of being heavily armed.
