Infamy

Infamy

Clem held court at the cafe, making his amends one person at a time; Nancy was on a double shift and served that table all day. She was filled with compassion and a fair bit of sarcasm about the traffic to that spot (how they came and how they left; some flipped him off before sitting down and some hugged him tightly before heading out). Near 5 o'clock, Clem walked up to the counter to top up her tips and thank Nancy personally for her great service and positive energy. "So, have you put things to rights?" she asked, curious. "Have you officially left your villain era?" Clem blushed a bit and shrugged. "Thing is," he replied softly, "the villain era is notable NOT for how much infamy you gained, but how comfortable it was - how effortless and kinda satisfying; that's why you put yourself on watch going forward." Nancy was surprised to hear him say that but, when she thought about it more after getting home, she knew it to be true.
