Practicalities

Everyone was staring; it took a second for Gary to realize that he was advancing the slides without using the remote and his coffee cup was floating in the air beside him (as if levitating on an invisible coaster). "Shit," he said, turning his back for a moment, centering himself before facing them again to quickly cast a memory block spell. "The thing about practical magic," he said to a warlock friend later at happy hour, "is that it really IS practical. Gets me every time." Gary's friend nodded, having been seen earlier in the week making arcane gestures while directing unseen forces to turn back time because he was late.
