"Okay," Maxine muttered, emerging from the den, "the computer is toast OR it just needs to devour a soul. What's our budget?" "For what?" Grant asked from the ease of his favorite chair. "Either," Maxine responded irritatedly, her mouth set in a flat line. "But ... y'know ... really," she rallied suddenly, "YOU'RE the one with the magic touch; maybe you should give it a go and reboot it or whatever." Grant sighed (but grinned inwardly). "Yeah, I suppose I could just fiddle with it a bit." He rose from his seat and moved into the den with his head high and his shoulders back (pre-victorious) ... and Maxine watched him go. "Soul it is," she whispered as the door closed slowly.
