"No," Maisie hissed at the screen. "NO. You have GOT to be kidding me!" Star walked up behind her and stared. On the screen, a half dead was applying makeup to her grey side, popping a contact onto the lifeless milky eye to make it look exactly like the other one. The session was live; smiles and hearts and comments scrolled by feverishly. "Looks like @halfdeadinfluencer is going viral," Star whispered (shaking their head), "and the irony is not lost on me." Maisie laughed out loud, but was so generally horrified and irritated (in equal parts) that she shut the computer off for several hours. "Y'know, it's a reality that some people are so healthy that they can actually fight off the full payload of the zombie virus and end up half alive," Star said later. "Maybe this person is just making the best out of a truly bummer situation." "Probably, and no shade there," Maisie agreed, "but I think it also proves that we humans, as a species, can hit rock bottom and just keep freaking digging."
