Superpower
Don took a deep breath, hating the meeting's creative/engaging/fun check-in (which always turned out to be none of those); this was the "which superpower would you like to have" question, which he had answered about 72 million times across 4 jobs. "Mind reading," he answered with a practiced smile, "because it would take all of the deception out of sales contracting." Everyone laughed and loved that he was so prepared with an answer, but Don had simply spoken the truth aloud. His gift really did take the deception out of most situations after complicating them first, but the real work of the gift wasn't using it, but controlling it (and using some verbal sleight of hand to keep it undiscovered). Don sighed, knowing he was starting this job with a full plate in that department, because one of the customer service managers present read as a whack job who was thinking about putting rat poison in her potluck brownies next week.
