Dedication
At the Fiber Arts group, Constance was crocheting at the speed of light; everyone was in awe. "Those colors are so rich!" one member said. "The pattern is so dense and unique!" another commented. After almost two solid hours without a break, Constance came up for a breather and reached for a cookie. "Whew," she sighed. "Sometimes, you work the project and, sometimes, it works you." "Whatever is it?" Jane asked, drawing near. "Runner? Throw? A half blanket for the foot of the bed?" Constance waved her away, shaking her head. "Coffin topper," she said, tipping back a sherry from a tray on the side table. "I am determined to stay handmade for the holidays ... from beginning to end." Most of the others stood perfectly still with open mouths, but Jane simply nodded and said, "I admire your dedication so much."
