Friendship

“Sometimes, I think I should do more,” he said. “Really push it. Take my shot. I feel like I’ve been playing safe all of this time - non-committal and half ass.” He paused, looking over at his friend with eyes narrowed. “You’re not saying anything.” “I haven’t up until now, no,” the friend replied. “So you’re in full agreement with everything I’ve said? Nothing to add?” he probed. “Well, I wouldn’t feel good about you dialing it back … whatever “it” actually is. I mean, to be fair, I think the cops need to keep their skills sharp. Reason. Deduction. Cuffing the flailing.” “You are an ass,” he said, trying not to laugh. “If you’re half ass, I am likely the other half,” the friend added. “Wonder Twin powers activate: shape of whole ass!” This was yelled to reach high heaven, and it broke him. “Why are we even friends?” he snickered. “Somebody’s got to be the next Tolkien and Lewis,” came the reply.
