Revival

At the Spring Revival, the preacher admonished the faithful to step forward - to declare themselves of service to the Light. Forward they came, in droves, but young Matthew Roy and younger Lily Bette felt a pull to settle right on the line. Self-conscious, awkward, and struggling to stay true to themselves, Matthew reached out to take Lily's hand (with a shy smile that melted some hearts regardless of the shock and consternation their halted steps had warranted). She beamed at him, fortified, and together they agreed to live not pledged to either the Dark OR the Light, but as best they could given all of the factors of the human condition likely to play out. Although many acted disgusted, a great number of folks later revealed that the honesty had touched and changed them, and this led to both an evolution and a revolution among factions in town (having consequences and outcomes that were equal parts bad and good, as most with a keen spirit could have predicted).
