Literal
"Mom, quick! In here!" Scott yelled, moving swiftly to barricade the barn. His mother rushed in from where she'd been hiding behind the tractor and shook her head. "Whew," she said. "These are going to be some long nights." This year, when they set out the food and gifts for the fairies, the queen had blessed their littlest with a wish - that any carol she fancied would come true; no one had expected her to giggle and shout, "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer!". Fairy magic is literal as all hell, and it wasn't long before they heard hooves (a stampede in the distance). "We can make it, Mom," Scott comforted her, while Evelyn and the others worked on their schemes to distract the herd. "We only have to last until Christmas Day!" He meant it to sound comforting but, right now, 72 hours felt like a thousand years.
