Before lunch, Bett simply watched; if you paid attention, you could easily read the energy - and quickly identify the ones who were close to giving up on life (bored to tears or simply on the verge of them). There were two today and, during the break, she made her move. On Peter's desk, she left a black sticky note with "YOU HAVE AN ENEMY" printed out in silver ink (using a stencil, so handwriting was never a thing); on Lillian's desk, she left another that said "THEY HAVE UNDERESTIMATED YOU". Bett had legitimate reason to be in their cubes, so nothing would be amiss if video was checked; she was an old hand at this. Their days would change; they would be awake, intrigued by life, re-energized (thinking and acting on whatever occurred to them). It would have been easy to leave affirmations, but those were too quickly dismissed; Bett had honed the impact of the black notes over time after realizing (early on) that the key to starting a fire within was more about fight and not flight.
