Affirming

"You have what it takes today," Todd said to his reflection, turning to the right and then the left. "You're a good person - okay, a good enough person, and you have talent ... drive ... luck." He flinched. "Okay, maybe you can't claim luck, but you're honest ... uh ... you try to be honest, helpful, neighborly ... " Todd groaned; he sucked at the whole affirmations thing. He straightened up and looked again. "You are smart, occasionally funny, and not nearly as dangerous as you could be. You try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and walk away before murderous rage sets in. You are currently safe to date." He nodded, pleased with himself for that last round; he was going to carpe diem big time and try not to lose it before lunch.
